Julien Foussard's career path
Passionate about start-ups and the tech world, Julien Foussard began his own entrepreneurial adventure at the age of 21, setting up his first online business, selling pine trees.
Specialised in providing businesses with digital services, over the past 15 years he has founded a large variety of start-ups: Oyst, Freecopy, rapidomaine.fr, France Sapins etc.
He has also invested in emerging brands such as Cheerz in 2013, Onoff Telecom, Wefix in 2016 (which went on to be bought by the Fnac-Darty group), as well as Pandacaft in 2017.
Through these investments Julien Foussard looks to support and encourage creative businesses. He wants to give brilliant, aspiring projects a chance to succeed and encourages them to take risks and be business orientated.
He himself was motivated by the desire to start up his own business very early on. He founded his first company in 2007. The skills acquired in the course of his many professional experiences have enabled him to become an expert in online marketing and payment.
In 2016, he co-founded Oyst with Quentin Vigneau, a company that improves the conversion rate of a company’s online sales thanks to one-click purchasing. Indeed, the e-commerce sector has a conversion rate of only 2 %, versus around 55 % for physical trade, underlines Julien Foussard. It was therefore necessary to develop a tool to increase this conversion rate by ensuring that internet users visiting online stores finalise their purchase rather than abandoning their shopping cart. The technology developed by Oyst came in response to the fact that the process for ordering a product online can be both burdensome and time consuming for the internet user. So, how to simplify the whole process? The entrepreneur carefully considered the issue by providing a turnkey solution. The eight necessary steps that were prerequired to finalise an online purchase (creating an account, filling in the online form, validating the shopping cart, choosing the delivery mode, providing the bank account details, validating the online payment, etc.) have been reduced thanks to Oyst technology: a simple one-click order button allows the client to confirm their purchase on the e-commerce website without having to enter a user ID or password.
Partner businesses can thus directly integrate this checkout button into their online sales website.
Oyst’s objective is to become an indispensable tool at the center of three interlinked sectors: e-commerce, online payments and advertising. This revolutionary tool aims at improving user experience when shopping online, making it much smoother. By facilitating the online purchasing process for internet users, Oyst promotes online shopping, enabling e-merchants to see an increase in their conversion rate and therefore in their turnover.
In May 2018, Oyst received the “LVMH Innovation Award” from Bernard Arnaud himself, CEO of the LVMH group, during the second edition of this award ceremony which was held during the Viva Technology exhibition.
